Penitas offers much of the same as its Poneloya twin -- a wide, sparsely occupied stretch of open beach, strong waves, a calming estruary, a tranquil escape from crowded beaches elsewhere and great seafood and other typical fare from the many open-air hut restaurants. But it also includes hostels and hotels that cater to visitors -- foreigners and locals -- and also offers some great food and views of the beach.
